Privacy Policy

In one paragraph

PlayOlu collects only the parent's email address (when they join the waitlist) and basic technical info like browser type and country. We do not collect personal information from children. We don't sell or share your data with advertisers. Ever.

1. Who we are

PlayOlu ("we", "us") is the operator of playolu.com. You can reach us at hello@playolu.com.

2. What we collect

From parents (waitlist):

• Your email address (only the one you give us)
• Source of signup (e.g. "landing")
• Browser user-agent (technical info)
• Country (derived from IP, never stored as full IP)
• Timestamp of when you joined

From children:Nothing. PlayOlu's current public site does not collect any personal information from children. When the full app launches, kid profiles are created by parents and contain only first name + birth year (never email, last name, photo, or location).

3. How we use it

• To email you when PlayOlu opens to the public
• To prevent abuse / duplicate signups
• To understand which countries our parents come from (aggregate only)

We never use your data for advertising, never sell it, never share with third-party advertisers.

4. Children's privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K / POPIA)

PlayOlu is designed for children ages newborn to 12 — but children never sign up directly. Parents create accounts and child profiles. We comply with:

• COPPA (US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
• GDPR-K (EU children's data rules)
• POPIA (South Africa Protection of Personal Information Act)

We do not collect biometric data (no face filters, no voice recording), do not enable AI chat for children, do not show third-party advertising, and do not allow free-form messaging between users.

5. Where your data lives

• Supabase (Frankfurt, EU) — primary database
• Vercel (US) — hosting and analytics
• That's it. No other vendors have access to your email.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to:

• Delete your email and any data we have on you
• Show you a copy of what we have
• Stop emailing you (we'll never email more than weekly anyway)

7. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies for the site to work — none for advertising. We don't use third-party tracking pixels.

8. Changes

When we change this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date and email everyone on the waitlist with a summary of what changed.
