Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-05-10

In plain language

PlayOlu is a kids platform run by humans who care about your kid. By using it, you agree to use it kindly, not break it on purpose, and trust us to do our best. We'll do our best.

1. Who can use PlayOlu

  • Parents and guardians aged 18+ create accounts
  • Childrenuse the platform under a parent's account — they never create their own
  • By signing up, you confirm you're a parent or guardian of any child whose profile you create

2. The service

PlayOlu provides bedtime stories, games, learning content, and a companion character (Olu). The service is delivered via the website (and, in future, native apps). We may add, change, or retire features at any time.

3. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Try to break, scrape, or reverse-engineer the site
  • Pretend to be someone else
  • Use PlayOlu to harm or harass anyone
  • Resell or redistribute our content

We may suspend accounts that do these things.

4. Family Pass (when paid features launch)

The PlayOlu Lifetime Family Pass is a one-off purchase covering up to 4 kid profiles. It gives access for the lifetime of the platform. We will email you 30 days before any major change to what "lifetime" covers. If you bought a Family Pass and aren't happy in the first 30 days, email hello@playolu.com for a full refund.

5. Intellectual property

Olu the Play Hero, all stories, games, illustrations, music, and brand assets are owned by PlayOlu. You can enjoy them inside the platform — please don't republish them on other sites or use them commercially without our written permission.

6. Things we don't do

  • Show ads
  • Track your kid for advertising purposes
  • Allow free-form chat between users
  • Sell data to third parties
  • Use AI to generate content for kids without parental disclosure

7. Limitation of liability

PlayOlu is provided "as is." To the extent legally allowed, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages from your use of the service. Our maximum liability is capped at what you paid us in the previous 12 months (which, for waitlist users, is zero).

8. Changes to these terms

When we update terms, we'll change the "Last updated" date and email everyone on the waitlist with a summary of the changes.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes go to courts of competent jurisdiction in South Africa.
