Is PlayOlu really ad-free?
Yes. No banner ads, no video pre-rolls, no "watch this to earn coins," no third-party advertisers. Children never see a sponsored anything. The lifetime family pass is how we make money — that's the entire model.
What does the lifetime family pass actually cover?
One payment, one family, every game and story PlayOlu ever ships. Up to four kid profiles per family. No monthly fee. No paywall on future content. Optional expansion packs (themed worlds, premium story series) are bought once and yours forever too — no subscription rebill.
Is PlayOlu safe for my 4-year-old / 8-year-old?
Yes — PlayOlu is designed for newborns to age 12. Every game is curated, no violence, no scary content, no chat with strangers, no purchase prompts shown to kids. We're COPPA-aligned by design. See our safety page for the full detail.
What do you do with my child's data?
Almost nothing. We don't collect personal information from kids — kid profiles contain first name and birth year only. We never sell data, never share it with advertisers, never use it for tracking. The full breakdown is on our privacy page.
Can I use PlayOlu offline?
The web version needs internet to load. Once a game or story is loaded, most of them keep playing offline. After full launch, you can install PlayOlu to your home screen for one-tap access — and we're working on full offline-pack downloads for travel, long car rides, and load-shedding.
What languages do you support?
At launch: English, Yoruba, Zulu, Afrikaans, Spanish, and Portuguese. We're adding more based on what waitlist parents request — tell us your language when you sign up and we'll prioritise it.
What if my kid doesn't like it — can I get a refund?
Yes. Full refund, no questions, within 30 days of purchase. Email hello@playolu.comand we'll action it the same week.
How is PlayOlu different from YouTube Kids or other apps?
Three real differences: no ads (YouTube Kids still shows them), no algorithmic autoplay(we don't engineer for screen time — every game has a natural end), and African-rooted stories and characters alongside global content. Plus one lifetime payment instead of forever-rebilling subscriptions.
